Rejsefeber

Travels

Rejsefeber in danish, travel fever if you translate it directly to english, but what it really means is the restless race of the traveller’s heart before a new journey begins, when anxiety and anticipation are tangled together; something that can almost manifest as an illness.

The entrace from the metro to the Copenhagen airport – everyone is feeling it

Even though my four-day trip to Florence can hardly be classified as a “journey,” I still feel it. It’s a certain kind of excitement, mixed with the fear of “did I forget something?” (In my case I did; my phonecharger) and “Is my plane gonna be delayed?” When traveling alone my rejsefeber is always more intense, because if things go wrong I only have myself.

Luckily, that worry isn’t in the mix this time. My long lost American best friend is  studying in Florence for the semester, so I get to spend four beautiful days with her by my side.

The majority of our plans involve walking around Florence, eating Italian food and drinking wine, but we also have a day trip to Cinque Terre planned, which I couldn’t be more excited about. Do yourself a favor and google it if you haven’t heard of it! It’s the most beautiful place and on UNESCO’s list of world heritages. And if you don’t, I’ll be posting pictures of it in just a few days, so you won’t be missing out.

Anyways, I just sat down in my seat on the plane. Most stressful airport experience ever. I’m definitely never showing up with only an hour to spare again, unless I’m already checked in…

Time for take-off! Arriverderci.
